Welcome! Thanks for visiting.
I write books for readers ages ten and up. All the way up. If you are one hundred and ten and want to read my books, I'm delighted.
History is my favorite subject and that's what I write about. That means I'm very lucky - my job is what I most like to do. I'm drawn to lesser-known stories inside bigger stories. I also like stories that make me want to be the best I can be. I suppose you could say I like inspiring stories.
In case you wondered, the ‘P’ in P. O’Connell Pearson stands for Patricia, but everyone calls me Patty.
WE ARE YOUR CHILDREN TOO: Black Students, White Supremacists, and the Battle for America's Schools in Prince Edward County, Virginia is my latest book. It takes the reader through thirteen years of struggle as students demanded equality and county leaders chose to destroy public education rather than desegregate their schools. CONSPIRACY is my latest book and tells the story of the men and women who defended American democracy when a president turned his back on the Constitution.
My first book was FLY GIRLS. It's about the women who flew military planes in the United States during WWII. They were an inspiration then and still are today.
FIGHTING FOR THE FOREST is the story of the Civilian Conservation Corps, the amazing program that saved young men and America's land during the Great Depression. A lot of people think we should start that program up again.
CONSPIRACY tells the story of the men and women who defended American democracy when a president turned his back on the Constitution.
